lavender blooms and peas

The lavender is really blooming good now. Just a rush of purple when you walk by.

The peas are really tall and have outgrown the trellis that we just put up last week! I don't remember peas getting this tall. There are a few pods just starting. The beans had started to wrap themselves around the peas so I had to give them a trellis of their own. Stay on your own trellis beans!

This is an onion bloom. Can't wait to harvest onions some day.

Here are some pink flowers in my pot.

A Marigold Flower

I put the cloches over the corn to warm it up a little.

Here is a snail in one of my bushes half way up. I have no idea how it got there.
This is Queenie, the neighbor's cat. She keeps an eye on the whole neighborhood.
And here is a blooming Marigold from the seeds from last year's plant from Mom. :)

Ripe strawberries!

There were some interesting bugs in the garden today. I didn't get a picture of the bumble bees but here is a Honey bee.

I don't know what this is - ladybug larvae?

black lady bug? ... and here are the strawberries - finally! I ate two on Sunday and today I gave one to a neighbor. Just waiting a bit more for these. :)

Ladybugs and Corn

Here are the ladybugs having a ladybug convention! There seem to be tons of ladybugs in the garden these days. Don't know where they all come from but they must have lots of bugs to eat. It supposed to be unseasonable rainy this weekend and then cool all next week.

The corn I planted a couple of weeks ago is coming up. Last year's corn didn't make it - I hope these do.

My Kale is still blooming. I like it so much just as a flower! It attracks lots of bees to the garden too.
Here are some Snapdragon in a pot that are starting to bloom.
We have some thistle in the planting strip. Most people consider thistle a weed but we like the spiky blooms.

Hot Day

It was really warm today, about 85 degrees. Then we had a small thunder storm! You can see the drops just starting on the bird bath.

Our chickadees are gone. I didn't see them on Friday. Looks like the babies must have left the nest. We miss them. :(

The garden is doing good. I staked up the peas. Still no red strawberries - they were supposed to be ready by Dad's birthday and today is it! There was enough spinach, chard, endive, grean leaf, cilantro, parsley, and kale for a salad though. Yummy!
